1. Service Description

CringeShield is a browser extension and web service that filters low-quality content from your LinkedIn feed using heuristic scoring and optional AI analysis. The service is provided as-is for content filtering purposes only.

CringeShield is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LinkedIn or Microsoft. You are responsible for complying with LinkedIn's terms of service when using CringeShield.

2. Accounts

  • You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • One account per person. Sharing accounts is not permitted.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

3. Subscription & Payments

  • CringeShield offers free and paid tiers. Premium features require an active subscription.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. You agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You are responsible for canceling before the renewal date if you do not wish to be charged. You may cancel at any time from your dashboard.
  • Refunds are not automatic. Contact support within 7 days of purchase for refund requests. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the extension.
  • Abuse the AI analysis system (e.g., sending non-LinkedIn content, automated bulk requests).
  • Share, resell, or redistribute your subscription or API access.
  • Circumvent rate limits or usage quotas.

5. AI Features

  • AI-powered content analysis requires explicit opt-in consent.
  • AI analysis is provided by third-party providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google). Their terms and privacy policies apply to content processed through their APIs.
  • AI results are probabilistic and may not always be accurate. CringeShield does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-based filtering. You are responsible for any decisions made based on AI analysis results.
  • Platform AI usage is subject to daily limits based on your plan (50 requests/day for premium users).

6. BYOK (Bring Your Own Key)

  • BYOK is a feature that may be available on select plans. It requires explicit opt-in consent before any keys can be stored.
  • By default, keys stored in the browser extension remain local and never leave your device. You may optionally enable server backup to sync encrypted copies to your CringeShield account for cross-device access.
  • When stored server-side (via dashboard or extension sync), your API keys are encrypted using AES-256-GCM with a per-key unique salt. CringeShield staff cannot view your raw keys.
  • You are solely responsible for your own API keys and any costs incurred with third-party providers.
  • If your subscription is downgraded below the required tier, your stored keys become inaccessible but are not automatically deleted.
  • Usage of BYOK mode is subject to the terms of the respective AI provider.

7. Account Deletion & Cancellation

You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard.

  • If you have an active subscription, you may cancel at period end or cancel immediately upon deletion.
  • Refunds are not automatic. Contact support within 7 days of purchase for refund requests.
  • Upon deletion, all personal data is permanently removed as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • We may terminate or suspend your access for violations of these terms.

7. Intellectual Property

All CringeShield code, branding, UI design, and documentation are the intellectual property of CringeShield. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the product without written permission.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

CringeShield is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with all LinkedIn interface changes. LinkedIn may change its platform at any time, which could affect the functionality of CringeShield.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CringeShield and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
